Like many health insurance providers, Aetna helps pay for substance abuse treatment for individuals with alcohol and drug use disorder. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires all insurance companies to provide some type of coverage for alcohol and drug treatment. The ACA requires all health insurance plans to cover behavioral health treatment (e.g., psychotherapy and counseling), mental health inpatient services, and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment.
Aetna Insurance works with rehabilitation facilities to help ensure that members are eligible to receive rehab benefits when they need them. We determine what benefits you are eligible to receive based on your individual health insurance policy. Aetna typically covers at least part of your substance abuse treatment costs, but may not cover the full cost for every service or facility.

True Self Recovery is in-network with many plans offered by Aetna Insurance. Aetna may or may not authorize treatment for the full recommended length of stay at the residential treatment level of care. Our clinical team will submit updates to your provider periodically in order to get more time approved for your substance abuse treatment.
