We understand that someone that is struggling with substance use disorder (drugs/alcohol) and mental illness (anxiety, PTSD, depression, OCD, Bi-polar, etc) requires a unique and caring approach. Oftentimes, these disorders will aggravate one another, making it impossible to treat just one or the other alone. Regardless of which predates the other, both the SUD and MH must be treated simultaneously to ensure lasting recovery.

At True Self Recovery, each client is assigned a Counselor and a Peer support specialist. They have 2 separate roles. The peer support specialist works with the client on the addiction aspect, day to day routine, etc. The time with the counselor will be spent on the co-occuring issues such as Mental Health, Family relationships, etc. The counselor and Peer support specialist work closely together and with each of their clients to help acclimate to the day to day of living sober happy lives. This work can include teaching coping skills, relapse prevention, encouraging AA/NA involvement and accountability, and also assist in the life skills aspect.

Counselors and Peer support specialists work with each client in both group and individual sessions. Each treatment plan is individualized for each client based on their needs and goals.

A day in this phase of treatment can consist of relapse prevention groups, educational groups, skill-building activities, individual therapy, and many more.

The Intensive Outpatient Program or IOP marks the beginning of a gradual step-down process that is designed to help our clients return to their life healthy, happy, and a better version of themselves. More freedom is given to allow for new coping skills and therapy while also attending programming.
